Welcome Back Voyager Vikings!  School hours are 9:00am - 3:30pm.  No school on Sept. 6 in honor of Labor Day!

Welcome to Voyager Elementary

Home of the Vikings!

Principal: Patty McClelland

MISSION OF VOYAGER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

What's New...

  • Summer Schedule
The office staff is gone for the summer, but Patty McClelland, principal, will be in and out and is happy schedule a time to meet or talk with you.  You can reach her by sending an email to mcclellandp@psd401.net   She will respond as quickly as possible to set up a time to meet or talk by phone.

The office officially re-opens on Monday, August 23, and will be open every weekday from then on, from 9:00am-3:00pm.

  • Late Summer/Fall Dates to Put on Your Schedule
8/23/10, Monday - Office opens and is open daily (9:00am-3:00pm) after that.

8/24/10, Tuesday - Kindergarten Parent Orientation (6:30-7:30pm ) - An important event for parents of incoming kindergarteners.  The kindergarten teachers will review the details that ensure a good start for our youngest Voyager Vikings.  Because there is a lot of information covered, we ask that students not attend this meeting.  Thanks!

8/26/10, Thursday Morning - Class lists are posted in the front windows of the school.  If your child was part of 'move up day' in June, you already know your child's teacher for 2010-11.  If there are any changes in teacher assignments, parents will be directly contacted by the principal.  This posting is particularly helpful to students who are new to Voyager.

8/26/10, Thursday - New Family Tours  - New families can drop by any time between 5:00-6:30pm, for a tour of the school.  While teachers aren't at school, students will have a chance to see their new classrooms.  Thanks to our PTA for sponsoring this helpful tour and wonderful welcome for our new families!

9/1/10, Wednesday - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!   Please note that school starts at the regular time.  Regular school hours are 9:00am-3:30pm.  (Late start Wednesdays will begin on 9/8/10.)

You are invited to the first PTA meeting, at 9:15am in the Voyager library on the first day of school.  This is a great time to meet people and to get informed about and involved with the PTA projects for this year.

9/6/10, Monday - Labor Day, NO SCHOOL

9/8/10, Wednesday - First Late-Start Wednesday - Elementary schools in the Peninsula School District start at 10:00am, every Wednesday, unless otherwise noted.  This time allows the staff a valuable opportunity to work together on school improvement projects.

  • Registration/Withdrawal
If you are new in the area and want to register your child, you can contact the principal (Patty McClelland) at mcclellandp@psd401.net and set up an appointment to pick up your registration materials, or wait until August 23 to come in.  To facilitate our planning, the sooner we know you are coming, the better prepared we can be, so you are encouraged to contact the principal as soon as is convenient for you.

If your family is leaving Voyager, please let us know as soon as possible.  The easiest way is to send an email to the principal (Patty McClelland) at mcclellandp@psd401.net  Please let us know the names of your children and the reason for your withdrawal.  Your new school will request your children's records when you register there.

  • Out-of-District Transfer Students
The Peninsula School District accepts out-of-district transfer students, pending district approval.  To find the application form, go to the district website (http://www.psd401.net/) and on the left you will see the link entitled, Student Transfers (non-resident).  If you have a question, call the district office 530-1007.
  • Collaboration Time/Late Start Wednesdays
As we did last year, during the 2010-11 school year (starting on September 8), the school day will start one hour late on Wednesdays.  For elementary schools this means the start time on Wednesdays will be 10:00am.  Collaboration time will focus on our school improvement work.  Watch the Stargazer for reports on our use of this time through the year or view our School Improvement Plan information here on our site GO THERE NOW!
  • YMCA Information for Late Starts on Wednesdays
The YMCA has again teamed up with the district and is offering free childcare for the hour during Collaboration Time on Wednesday mornings.  Check in the office to register for this service or go to Onsite Childcare on the district website where you will find links to the registration forms.
  • Are you Going To Volunteer In Your Child's Classroom Or Chaperone A Field Trip in the 2010-11 School Year?
Once the new school year starts, be sure to check your volunteer clearance status.  Once cleared (through thumb-printing), your clearance is good for two years.  If you are new to the school or you don't remember the last time you filled out a form, please stop by the office and ask for the expiration date of your volunteer clearance. If need be, you can fill out a new form then.  Clearance is required if you want to volunteer at school, participate in school events (such as field day), or chaperone a field trip.
