August 25 - Kindergarten Parents'
Orientation - 6:30-7:30pm (A meeting to go over all the details
involved in starting school as a kindergartener. To allow
focused time, we ask that this be an adult-only meeting - thanks!)
August 27 - Class Lists Posted on

August 27 - New Family Tours -
5:00-6:30pm - Come by and get a tour of the school. New
students will find out their teacher's name and have a chance to see
their new classrooms.
September 2 - First Day of School!!
School day is 9:00am-3:30pm
September 7 - Labor Day - NO SCHOOL
September 9 - Our first Late Start,
Collaboration Wednesday. School starts at 10:00am; buses
run one hour later than normal.
September 16 - Parent Orientation for
Grades 1-2, 6:30-7:30pm
September 17 - Parent Orientation for
Grades 3-5, 6:30-7:30pm
Out-of-District Transfer Students The Peninsula School District is now accepting
out-of-district transfer students, pending district approval. To
find the application form, go to the district website
(http://www.psd401.net/) and on the left you will see the link entitled:
Student Transfers (non-resident).
Collaboration Time/Late Start Nearly every Wednesday during the 2009-10 school year, the school day will start one hour late.
For elementary schools this means the start time on Wednesdays will be 10:00am. Collaboration time will focus on our school
improvement work, specifically in the areas of math and school climate. Watch the Stargazer for reports on our use of this
time through the year or view our School Improvement Plan information here on our site

YMCA Information for Late Starts on Wednesdays The YMCA has teamed up with the district and is offering free childcare
for the hour during Collaboration Time on Wednesday mornings.
Check in the office to register for this service.
Are you Going To Volunteer In Your Child's Classroom Or Chaperone A Field Trip in the 2009-2010 School Year? If you are new to the school or you don't remember the last time you filled out a form, please stop by the office and ask for the expiration date of your volunteer clearance. If need be, you can fill out a new form then. The clearance is good for two years only.
Kindergarten Program All Day Kindergarten is standard at Peninsula Elementary Schools for every kindergartener at
no charge. This year, the program is four days/week - no school on Friday.
Eligible Kindergarteners are children who are 5 years old by August 31, 2009. To register your child, please bring your child's certified birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency (electric bill).
You can come to school and register on any school day, 8:00am - 3:30pm, or on the days listed above when the office is open.
